A familiar name in surface treatments and repairs
CZL Tilburg first became active in the field of surface treatments and repairs on high-value technical components more than 30 years ago. Leading worldwide names from the mechanical engineering, petrochemical, aviation, hydraulics, automotive, semiconductor, foodstuffs, optics, medical and pharmaceutical industries entrust the treatment and repair of their costly, process-critical components to CZL Tilburg. The following processes and treatments are offered: Hard chromium plating, MCP® (Micro Chrome Plating), HP-HVOF Thermal Spraying, Electroless Nickel plating, Black Oxidizing, Dicronite® Dry Lube, Diarc® Diamond Coating, SuNiCoat® Optics, Cylindrical and surface grinding.
All our processes and treatments are executed complying to EN/AS-9100 and customer specifications.
Savings from enhanced durability
The optimisation of production processes is a serious challenge for high-tech businesses in a wide range of sectors. When new cost-cutting options no longer seem to be available, the tiniest details take on a new significance. CZL Tilburg offers the appropriate technology for the task at hand. Tasks relating to such quality requirements such as reduced wear and tear or friction, scratch resistance and durability, resistance to corrosion, hardness, heat resistance, non-magnetic and non-stick properties, or any combination of the foregoing.
The result is invariably a made-to-measure surface of extremely high quality and precision. This kind of quality, high-value surface treatment and repair to your process-critical components can make a direct contribution to the realisation of longer, uninterrupted operating times, the continuity of the business, and a demonstrably sustainable saving on costs.
Repair of costly, process-critical components.
The diversity of surface treatments, LASER welding techniques and mechanical operations deployed by CZL Tilburg means all options are open to you when it comes to professional repair of your costly components. Since all repair operations are carried out in one place (one-stop-shopping) you have a single point of contact, and the time of passage is kept to a minimum. A team of specialists carries out the processes and operations using modern installations and qualitatively high-value machinery.
Details make the difference
Surface treatment is often the last operation to be carried out on a mechanically finished product and is therefore crucial to the ultimate quality and time of passage. CZL Tilburg understands better than anyone the importance of this final link in the production chain, which is why we always take the utmost care of your costly products. The knowledge and experience of CZL Tilburg in the application of refined surface-treatment technologies is what makes the difference.

History |
| Mari van Laarhoven starts his own business under the name CZL (Chemisch Zwartbedrijf van Laarhoven). The first place of business is the shed behind his house. |
| After two years his shed is too small and the company moves to a large shed in Houtstraat, where he starts operating a personally developed, fully automatic black oxidizing line. |
Through hard work and delivering quality, the customer base has grown so rapidly that he has to look around for a new location, which he finds on the Loven industrial estate.
Here he builds completely new business premises at Watermanstraat. The company activities are extended to include chromium hard plating, MCP® and electroless nickel. |
| The company, called CZL Tilburg, by now has evolved into a major supplier in surface treatments, to the extent that customers, both domestic and foreign, send their orders to Tilburg. This means that the location at Watermanstraat is also too small, and CZL Tilburg builds new premises on the Vossenberg industrial estate. |
Mari van Laarhoven is one of the frontrunners in the area of environmentally-friendly and energy-conscious business operations. His efforts are noticed. In 1996 the provincial authorities of North Brabant award him the Brabant Environment Prize. HRH Willem-Alexander personally visits Tilburg for this occasion, to hand him, together with the Provincial Governor for Brabant, the commemorative plaque.
| CZL Tilburg proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary. |
After this highlight, in September 2006 CZL Tilburg knows the worst day in its company history. On Sunday 3 September, a devastating fire reduces the entire galvanic department to ashes. It typifies the character of CZL Tlburg that the board of management and the employees, working together, are able to get the production back on track within a week.
The new business premises are launched in a festive atmosphere, with a laudatory speech by the mayor of Tilburg, Mr. Vreeman.
The 30th anniversary of the company has an added splendor with the presentation of the hotly contested MVO-prize 2008 for Corporate Social Responsibility. With its 50 employees CZL Tilburg is an appreciated supplier of surface treatments and repairs of high-quality technical parts.
CZL Tilburg obtains the EN/AS-9100 certificate and is proud to deliver according to aviation and space travel standards.
The company activities are extended to include cleanroom packaging, SuNiCoat® Optics (turnable nickel) and low phosphorus electroless nickel. Several customer-specific processes are implemented in the good equipped Special Production Department.
CZL Tilburg introduces Blackprotect® Black Nickel. The R&D Department has succeeded to develop a perfect black coating which is 100% free from Chromium (VI), Lead and Cadmium. This innovative black nickel process meets EU-directive RoHS. The black nickel phosphorous layer can be applied in optical instruments, as light absorbing material and for decorative purposes. The process is also applicable in aviation and aerospace applications.
